Cambridge Advanced Exam (CAE)
BSGS College offers a preparation course for the Cambridge Advanced English Exam (CAE). This course is more advanced than our FCE course and entails: writing complex reports, giving good English presentations on complex issues as well as understanding a variety of texts – from newspaper articles to fictional novels. Not only will attaining a CAE certificate give you very high level, complex English skills in all four methods of communication (Speaking, Reading, Listening and Writing), but it will also prove to employers that you can communicate confidently in English in professional and high-level academic situations.

No registration fee! No registration fee!
* No books are required for this course as the teacher will provide all relevant materials such as print-outs and worksheets at no extra cost. However, students may buy recommended books to further aid and support their learning.
* Exam fees are not included in the course price and need to be booked by the candidate independently as and when they are ready. However, the teacher may advise them and guide them in this matter. The exam fee is approximately £125.
* There are no specific course start/end dates as it is ongoing and continuous so students can join any day.
There are 4 parts to the exam:
Reading / Use of English: understanding a variety of texts e.g. articles, stories. – 90 mins (40% of overall mark)
Writing: ability to compose 2 forms of writing , including an essay. - 90 mins (20% of overall mark)
Listening: comprehension of audio materials such as everyday dialogues. – 30 questions in 40 mins (20% of overall mark)
Speaking – proficiency in communicating orally in a pair or group discussion. – 15 mins (20% of overall mark)
Pass: Grade A = C2, Grade B C1, Grade C = C1. Fail: D,E, U.
If you do not pass, but still do reasonably well you are issued a B2 certificate.
You can do the CAE exam on a computer or on paper. The CAE test can be taken most months in either paper-based or computer-based format. Not all test centres will administer both types of test. The CAE exam is set at Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Languages.
